SteelStop® has been installed on two different roads in the Rotherham (UK) area. Harsco’s first slag asphalt road in Australia

The first slag asphalt road has been laid in the City of Port Phillip, South Melbourne (Australia), as part of Victoria state’s environmental policy to use more recycled materials in building and infrastructure projects. It is expected further sections will be laid in coming weeks in the City Area, with plans to install sections in some major freeway and infrastructure projects, such as the M80 ring road upgrade.

Neobrita celebrates slag road in Brazil

Harsco’s first road in Brazil made entirely from slag aggregate has celebrated its 3rd year anniversary. The section of the highway (pictured) uses slag aggregate for both the base layer and the top surface. The product is sold in Brazil under the Neobrita brand – Harsco’s ecological aggregate.

Harsco maps out Aluminium industry partnership

In April 2011, Harsco held a global Aluminium seminar at the Center for Aluminum Technology of the University of Kentucky, in Lexington (VA). The seminar was organized to shape Harsco’s partnership with the Aluminium industry, bringing together subject matter experts from Harsco and outside speakers to discuss current challenges and possible solutions for the Aluminium industry.  Lexington is also the home of the Aluminium Association – of which Harsco Metals is a member.

Harsco stems rising tides to keep steel plant going

After the recent storms and heavy rain in the southern USA, Harsco has laid slag aggregate on a  vital supply road for scrap entering the steel mill at Nucor Hickman (AR).  Production at the plant was threatened by rising waters on the Mississippi river which would prevent access to the road where scrap is taken from the barge.

Slag insulation deployed to Sweden

Rockwool is an international producer of energy insulation products for buildings. The company has been using Harsco’s slag in Norway for many years, as a raw material feed for its manufacturing process. Slag is a renewable resource and functions well as an insulation material.
