Harsco has a new technology partner in helping steelmakers to minimise the environmental impact of steel production. LanzaTech, a New-Zealand based firm, has developed a unique process to convert steelmaking gases into ethanol, using microbacteria.

Rockwool is an international producer of energy insulation products for buildings. The company has been using Harsco’s slag in Norway for many years, as a raw material feed for its manufacturing process. Slag is a renewable resource and functions well as an insulation material.

In Utah (USA), a section of the I15 Interstate is being upgraded and renovated using 1.2MT of slag aggregate recovered by Harsco Metals from a steel mill dump.
